What is the media evoking the power that make each indidual's "politics" possible, withdrawing thecrystal of activity and strength, in other words, minimal circuit of struggle from individuals? How are community, politics and movements connected? This is the first talk based on social movements in Latin America between 2 spirited controversialists.

The Netherlands- based artist, Chikako Watanabe will talk about her projects: Projects in Almere(2003-) and Survival Net Project(1999), as well as her research and workshop she's currently working on in the residency programme of Akiyoshidai International Art Village, Yamaguchi. You'll enjoy the organic food from the farmer Watanabe met in the project in Yamaguchi. Live performance by Emer is also scheduled!

“artist pick up”series focus on moving image in the contemporary art field, and introduce new representations beyond the conventional grammar of moving image. We aim to create the platform to consider diversities and potentials of video expressions through screenings, installations in the space maximally exploited.
artist pick up, this time, introduces Canadian artists selected by Shinobu Akimoto, an artist working both in Canada, and Japan. Canada has been producing many of video artists, video art organizations, artist-run spaces, international festivals under the national support since the 1970s. Akimoto selects 7 groups of artists who incorporate art into life or life into art, in order to live better, and by choice or not by choice, adopt a do-it-yourself strategy. In addition to the exhibition, artist talks by Tanya Read, Matthew Evans, Maula Doyle[to be expected] are scheduled on 6th. Also, Akimoto gives a talk about Canadian contemporary art scene, influences of social, and cultural environments and system, as well as an alternative space, Mercer Union where she belongs to as a board member on 27th.

AHA! Project constructs a framework for the collection, screening and storage of private 8mm film and video. To trace memories of life and culture reflected in private film enables us to redefine the present, as well as to face the opportunity to create the future. For the first attempt, 8mm film shot from the 1940s to the 1970s in Shinsekai area- the base of remo, by calling for film from public will be screened.

There might be a new discovery in places you casually pass by, and scenes you tend to miss by clipping out moving image. In this workshop, we call for submissions of video works from the public in accordance with The Lumiere Rule, 6 possible techniques in 1895 when the Lumiere brothers invented Cinematograph. In addition to the screening of submitted works, we have a discussion on reconsidering the role, the potentials of moving image as a medium lying in everyday life and the grammar of moving image.

Michaelangelo Pistoletto, the artist has worked on "Creative Involvement" for 40 years since 1961.In 1968, Cittadellarte was established in the disused textile mill in Biella, Italy. The foundation engaged art in a unique perspective to explore the solutions of various social issues in the world. Paolo Naldini introduces the interesting activities of Cittadellarte.

Franck Bragigand will give a talk regarding this and past projects.
Bragigand defines himself as a realistic painter. Rather than producing entirely new works, he breathes a new life into old furniture, buildings, or park facilities, and brings out the unique nature and beauty of these object through his painting. Bragigand has just finished painting the tram of Hankai Tramways, the last tram in service in Osaka and a portion of Ebisu-cho tram station. The station is completed last Saturday, on 17th. From this week, he started painting on the tram has begun. The painted tram run through the city upon the completion from 30th July.

dial H-I-S-T-O-R-Y directed by Johan Grimonprez is a documentary film, which consists of collage of TV news reports of past international hijacking and terrorist attacks such as above. His peculiar sampling technique was sensational in documenta X, and “hijacked” people’s attention in other art festivals around the world. It is even said that is placed the work which expects events of the September 11th. The release of dial H-I-S-T-O-R-Y with Japanese subtitles and his directed art book leads to the premiere screening in the Kansai(Osaka/Kobe/Kyoto) area. Notably, the talk between the director, Johan Grimonprez and the media critic, Tetsuo Kogawa is scheduled on Sunday 26th.
